Lake Saif Ul Muluk is a stunning alpine lake nestled at an altitude of 3,224 meters (10,578 feet) above sea level, located near the town of Naran in the Kaghan Valley, Pakistan. Surrounded by snow-capped peaks including the majestic Malika Parbat, the lake is renowned for its crystal-clear turquoise waters, glacial origins, and breathtaking reflections of the surrounding mountains.
Formed by glacial activity during the last Ice Age, Saif Ul Muluk holds both geological and cultural significance. According to folklore, the lake is named after a Persian prince, Saif-ul-Muluk, who fell in love with a fairy princess at this mystical spot—a story famously preserved in the Sufi epic written by Mian Muhammad Bakhsh.
This high-altitude lake sits within Saif Ul Muluk National Park and is one of the most iconic tourist destinations in northern Pakistan, offering a surreal landscape that blends natural beauty, local mythology, and adventure.
